London, 12 October 2016 – Sony Pictures Television (SPT) has secured a raft of new deals for global hit format, Dragons’ Den - which airs in the US as Shark Tank - across Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa.

In Brazil, Canal Sony has ordered its first-ever season of Shark Tank – Negotiating with Sharks. The 13 episode run is being produced by Floresta and will debut this week.

In Israel, Keshet has commissioned a local series of Dragons’ Den to be produced by Gil Productions for transmission in 2017. Meanwhile, Kenyan broadcaster Nation TV has ordered its first season of the show and the 12 episode run is produced by Quite Bright Films and airs this autumn.

In Germany, VOX has ordered Season 4 of the ratings juggernaut, hot off the heels of a strong Season 3 performance. Locally titled Die Höhle der Löwen, the show is produced by SPT Germany and took home the prestigious German Television Award (Deutscher Fernsehpreis) in the Best Factual Entertainment category earlier this year.

VOX's Chief Editor and Head of Entertainment, Kai Sturm, said: “We are very excited for the fourth Season of Die Höhle der Löwen and the continuing cooperation with Sony Pictures Television. Die Höhle der Löwen is currently Germany’s most successful show on Tuesday night. Nobody can ignore the start-up show – whether on television or in the start-up scene.”

Jane Dockery, senior vice president, formats, international distribution for SPT, said: ”Dragons’ Den continues to strike a chord with audiences around the globe and it’s fantastic to see so many new broadcasters discover this engaging and pertinent format.  With over 30 adaptations worldwide to date, Dragons’ Den is now the world’s most successful business reality show.“

Across the rest of Europe, Danish broadcaster DR1 has ordered a second season (6 episodes) of the format, which is set to air later this year. It will be produced by United Productions, part of ITV Studios Nordic. In Portugal, Take & Sound Productions are producing 13 episodes of season 2 for commercial broadcaster SIC, and in Austria channel Puls4 has ordered a fourth season to air next year.

In the US, Shark Tank has just won its third consecutive Emmy for Outstanding Structured Reality Program, and Season 8 is currently on air on ABC.  Additionally, Season One of Shark Tank México: Negociando con Tiburones has proven to be a ratings success on Canal Sony, with the first eight episodes of the Mexican adaptation nearly quadrupling the network’s audience in its timeslot.

Dragons’ Den, created by Nippon TV and distributed internationally by SPT, gives budding entrepreneurs the opportunity to secure life-changing sums of money and expertise from some of the biggest names in business. Dragons’ Den is one of the world’s most successful business shows and the format has sold into more than 30 territories including the UK, Canada, Australia, Russia, Germany, India, Italy and Nigeria.
