Mexican adaptation, Shark Tank Mexico: Negociando con Tiburones, to premiere on Sony Channel and Claro Video mid-2016
Hit format returning for additional seasons across Europe and Africa
CULVER CITY, CA, March 31, 2016 – Sony Pictures Television (SPT) is expanding the global footprint of Shark Tank, bringing the popular and award-winning format for the first time to Latin America.
SPT and Claro Video have commissioned a Mexican adaptation called Shark Tank Mexico: Negociando con Tiburones.  The series will air first on SPT Networks’ Sony Channel with episodes available afterward on Claro Video’s SVOD platform. Shark Tank Mexico: Negociando con Tiburones will be co-produced by SPT’s Teleset, SPT Networks and Claro Video, with production on the first 13 episodes slated to begin in Mexico City in early April for a mid-2016 premiere.
Shark Tank has distinguished itself in the crowded global formats market by blending high stakes negotiations with an intelligent and inspiring entrepreneurial message,” said Alexander Marin, executive vice president, international distribution, Latin America, the Caribbean and Canada for SPT. “The format is perfect for Latin America because of its proven ability to draw family viewers and build its audience season to season.”
The format’s popularity continues to grow in other parts of the world as well. Ireland’s RTE One has commissioned a seventh season of Dragon’s Den, as the format is known in a number of markets, while Portugal’s SIC, Denmark’s DR1 and South Africa’s MNET have each given second season renewals to their adaptations.

The cash-strapped hopefuls pitch to an intimidating panel of successful venture capitalists in hopes of securing financial backing to help build their fledgling business or idea into a thriving company.

In addition, the UK and Canadian versions of Dragon’s Den are now in their thirteenth and tenth seasons on BBC Two and CBC, respectively.
The format has also garnered numerous awards around the world.
