Press Release

Culver City, 23 Sept 2013.  Sony Pictures Television (SPT) today confirmed global sales for three of its latest dramas as the new US season launches this week.
Ahead of tonight’s global premiere on NBC, SPT’s new crime thriller The Blacklist has been licensed to broadcasters in more than 150 territories around the world including Sky Living in the UK, TF1 in France and RTL in Germany. Starring James Spader and dubbed by critics as one of the most highly anticipated new shows this season, The Blacklist’s pilot was NBC’s highest testing pilot in ten years.
Also launching in the US this week is SPT’s provocative new drama for Showtime, Masters of Sex, starring Michael Sheen and Lizzy Caplan. SPT can also confirm deals for this series in more than 150 territories including Channel 4 in the UK, Sky Deutschland and Orange in France. The series chronicles the relationship of pioneering sex experts Dr. William Masters and Virginia Johnson who risked everything and gave birth to the sexual revolution while struggling with their own clash of success, betrayal and jealousies.
Meanwhile SPT’s mid season legal drama Rake is still months from its January launch but not far behind and gaining momentum internationally, with sales also confirmed in South Africa, Canada, Australia and Brazil. Based on the Australian drama of the same name, Rake stars Greg Kinnear who plays a helplessly self-destructive attorney who relies on his wit and charm to get by both in court and outside.
Keith LeGoy, president of international distribution at SPT said: “SPT’s slate has never been stronger as we prepare to launch new and returning shows on every US network. With the global pedigree of names such as Michael Sheen, James Spader and Greg Kinnear headlining our dramas, the demand for our new slate has been exceptional. International audiences of millions are now guaranteed front row seats to the biggest television events this season.”
