International Distribution, EMEA
Angel Orengo is executive vice president of international distribution across Europe, the Middle East and Africa for Sony Pictures Television (SPT). Based in London, he is responsible for managing and growing SPT's distribution activity across these territories, leading all film, television and formats licensing negotiations for SPT across broadcast and digital platforms, as well as SVOD. Orengo reports to Keith LeGoy, president, international distribution for SPT.
Previously, Orengo served as executive vice president of international distribution for Asia-Pacific, based at SPT's regional headquarters in Hong Kong, where he oversaw SPT's distribution efforts in all of Asia, plus Australia, New Zealand and India.
Prior to that, Orengo was SPT's vice president and then senior vice president of distribution for Latin America and the Caribbean, since 2004. Based at SPT's Latin American headquarters in Miami, he oversaw the distribution of all SPT programming to free, basic and pay TV services and platforms in Latin America and the Caribbean, working closely with SPT's worldwide distribution team in Los Angeles. He also led the mobile entertainment team in Latin America and was responsible for identifying and developing new opportunities for the delivery of SPT's product via video on demand, subscription video on demand and electronic sell-through across Latin America.
From 2000 to 2003, Orengo was SPT's regional director, Mexico, where he opened and established the local SPT advertising sales operation in Mexico City. From 1999 to 2000, he was SPT's director, pan-regional ad sales, based in Miami. He joined SPT's Miami office in 1998 as senior account executive.
Before joining SPT, Orengo was an international advertising sales executive for CBS Telenoticias in Miami, from 1997 to 1998, and an account executive for La Agencia de Orci & Asociados in Los Angeles, from 1995 to 1997. He began his career in 1992 with Telemundo Network in New York as a research manager and then went on to Los Angeles, where he served in both the marketing and network sales teams.
Fully bilingual in English and Spanish, Orengo has a Bachelor of Science degree in human ecology from Cornell University.
