Thanda Belker is executive vice president, pay television, U.S. distribution for Sony Pictures Television, where she oversees licensing and marketing for the transactional businesses. In Belker’s position, she oversees linear pay deals for film, SVOD as an add-on to linear, and SVOD standalone for both film and TV. Her responsibilities include licensing to new frontiers in the burgeoning SVOD OTT space by offering current TV series such as Better Call Saul and The Goldbergs earlier-than-standard windows and notable library series such as Seinfeld that have never previously been seen in the SVOD format.
Belker joined SPT in 2000 where she was responsible for worldwide VOD and PPV under the former Sony Pictures Television International. In April 2005, she became senior vice president, pay television for SPT and added responsibilities at Sony Pictures Home Entertainment (SPHE) in April 2009, overseeing VOD, PPV and EST for multichannel video programming distributors (MVPDs).
Prior to joining Sony, Belker worked at Buena Vista Television, licensing domestic residential and hotel VOD and PPV, and before that, served as director of programming at TeleTV Media.
Belker is an active member of the Black Filmmakers Foundation (BFF) and Female Executives in Media and Entertainment (FEME), and is a Deputy Mentor for The Hollywood Reporter’s Women in Entertainment Mentoring Program. She is also a part of Sony Pictures Entertainment’s Project Reverb: Innovation & Creativity, Reverse Mentorship Program, Mentorship Program for Leader Development and Sony Pictures Asian Resource Community.
Belker earned her MBA and MS in broadcast management from Boston University and earned her AB from Bryn Mawr College.
